It also gives details about driving through the Red River Gorge loop, providing directions and scenic stop-offs along the way. Written by a history professor, it provides a wealth of historical information about the area as well.

Another excellent book that is less detailed but covers the entire state of Kentucky is called "Hiking Kentucky, Scenic Trails of the Bluegrass State". This book focuses on short scenic hikes and day hikes. It includes many great hikes in the Red River Gorge area, and many other hikes throughout the Daniel Boone National Forest.
